Consecration of Tools

PREPARATION

  • Bathe with intent of purification
  • Wear ritual garments
  • Gather a Chalice or suitable cup, salt, water
  • Gather/mix an essential oil, for athame, use Frankincense mixed with oil purchased at a knife shop to keep blade from rusting
  • a white candle
  • incense (sage, frankincense, myrrh)

RITUAL
Light candle and incense and sit before the altar holding athame in your hands.

Go into meditative state and when ready, cast circle.

Face the altar, raise the athame to the sky and invoke the Goddess in as many aspects as you can remember.
    Bless the Blade of my Art.

Draw an invoking pentagram over the blade saying:

    I Invoke the force of the Mighty Ones to consecrate and charge this blade with universal will.

Draw an invoking pentagram over the salt saying:

    Blessings upon this Crystal of the Sea, born from the womb of the Mother with the aid of the sacred Sun.

Draw an invoking pentagram over the water saying:

    Out of thee, Creature of Water, goes all that is not pure. May only the essence of the Great Mother remain.

Add salt to the water, draw and invoking pentagram on your forehead and say:

    I work this rite as a Priest/ess of The Triple Goddess and the Triple God.
    May the Gods witness this work and grant blessings upon my path.

Work the salt and water into the athame, blade and hilt.
Take the oil, draw an invoking pentagram over it and say:

    I consecrate thee, sacred oil, to aid me in my task.

Work the oil into the athame, blade and hilt.
Take the water in the chalice and draw an invoking pentagram over it

    Thou art blessed, waters of the womb of the Mother, blood of the God

Work the water into the athame, blade and hilt.
Take the athame in both hands, hold it over the candle flame and say:

    Powers of Fire, infuse my blade!

Over the water and say:

    Powers of Water, infuse my blade!

Over the incense and say:

    Powers of Air, infuse my blade!

Hold athame to your breast and close your eyes, concentrating all of the force of your will into it. When you feel that it is fully infused, say:

    Thou art mine! I am thine! We are one!

Kiss your athame, blade and hilt, and place it upon the altar.

Take the chalice and raise it to the sky in silent honor of the Goddess. Sip from it and pour a libation to her.
