Wicca:
A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner
by Scott Cunningham
By far the best beginners book on Wicca ever written, and here's
why: Scott (gods rest his soul) presents the Craft with a kind of
pragmatic joy that no other author has managed without a whole lot
of froof and bother. His rituals are simple, his explanations straightforward,
and most importantly he emphasizes that Wicca is a RELIGION, not
just an excuse to cast spells and wear cool jewelry. His love of
his faith is evident in every page. You'd be hard-pressed to find
anyone who doesn't love this book. Includes self-dedication, a full
Book of Shadows with eight Sabbat rituals, basic spellwork, and
chants/invocations. My first two years as a Witch I had no tools,
no robes--just this book and my mind and heart. I think Scott is
enjoying quite a karmic kickback for his contribution to Paganism.
