Goddess:
A Celebration in Art and Literature
edited by Jalaja Bonheim
My mother, a non-practicing Catholic, asked me for this book one
Christmas. She never ceases to surprise me.
The stories and art of this celebration are a beautiful and joyous
overview of cultures and beliefs. Myths and Goddess from around
the world weave an understanding of the female power, psyche, and
experience.
What is wonderful is that it explores beyond the Greek and Roman
pantheons; incorporating myths of Native America, the Middle East,
Africa and Asia. It is by no means complete but it is a refreshing
and ever so beautiful collection of stories and art representing
the many facets of the Goddess.
Definitely a coffee table book to leave out when company comes.
Who knows what conversations you might have.
